You can definitly get a site for a rig that big...(ours is 36)(but you do need to book in advance as sites go quick down there), and I can honestly say that after living in a tent in the keys for almost 6 months it is pretty cool there....but I really like the campgrounds out west too. There is such open space there.....you can just look in all directione for what seems like miles.
I think we have a favorite everytime we camp and the friends and folks we meet along the way always add to the campground even in a bad place you can have a goodtime. I think its more the people you meet and the things you see that make a place special. I really enjoyed assategue (sp) island too...with the wild horses running around....geez there are so many to hard to pick just one.

Lesa....live Vicki said....You can get a spot for your rig down there...you just need to know how far south in the Keys you want to go, and you have to book the site well in advance.
I will say the State parks in the Keys are some of the best, but the closest one to Key West in like 30 miles. If you need any info about private campgrounds in the lower keys...e-mail me at LeftTurns@aol.com.

Vicki....you have the KOA campground on Sugar Loaf Key, very nice but pricey...Dawn & I found this one a few years ago called Lazy Lakes Resort. Heated pool, washer & dryer, clubhouse with t.v. and pool table. Not as fancy as Boyds or KOA, but you won't be packed on top of each other. The campground is built around saltwater lakes. It's about 15 miles north of Key West.

I cant believe no one has mentioned Bluewater Key, near Key West - MM 14.
All sites on the water - with your own dock and Tiki Hut.

We were there two years ago. My 5 yo daughter still talks about the fish she caught off the dock. Lots of snappers and a few groupers. (All small and catch-and-realease.)
Its a little on the pricy side, but what isnt in the Keys? Also, there is nice privacy betweeen the sites, so your not looking in the window of your neighbor. And its pet-friendly, something that is a drawback to some of the State Parks in the Keys.
