Well, been disappointing so far this year as have not had a chance to get out anywhere yet.

Scheduling has not been great and then family medical issues have put a hold on going out anywhere for a few months.

New trailer has been out for a handful of trips since we purchased it.

Now, with that said, I have been waiting for a few years to purchase a vehicle for me. I have been saving for almost two years for a down payment to purchase a 2008/2009 dodge challenger. I was the owner of an original 1971 dodge Hemi Challenger and sold it before their value went out of sight. Kick myself every day for selling that vehicle

The wait was long enough for me to think about what kind of vehicle I really wanted/needed. Choices changed to

1. Dodge Challenger

2. Diesel Truck so we could actually take trailer up a few hills. (2004 4runner will work for flat Florida but not up any hills)

3. Class B Rv (The thought here is a vehicle for a very comfortable travel vehicle that you could just jump in and go without alot of prep time) Vehicle also could be used as a second vehicle for in town driving and keep some miles off of the 4 runner

At least for us it is a major preparation to get the TT ready to go anywhere and with the two dogs in the 4runner it is a tiring drive. (rear seat has to be folded down to make room for the dogs so both front seats are pushed forward)

Guess I am getting really old as I thought more about the challenger and removed it from one of the choices. It probably would have turned into a garage queen and I would still not have a vehicle for day to day driving if I really needed it. (I do still have an 87 Turbo buick in the garage that needs restoring) It could still feed the "need for speed" if I put some $$$ into it

I test drove a GMC diesel 3/4 truck with all the goodies. Big truck and not cheap. Definitely could pull our TT with no problem. Probably could pull it straight up the side of a mountain :) I did read there have been some quality control issues with the GMC diesels lately which held me off and after driving one I am not sure how the truck would work as a second vehicle. It was almost as big as a Class B and diesels appear to be more expensive to own at the moment.

Been looking a Class Bs lately. Mostly Roadtrek and Pleasureway. Even more dollars but if you stay away from the dodge sprinter chassis you will save alot of dollars.

Jackye and I really want to get out and about to see the country but until we retire we won't be able to make those xcountry trips yet.

Hopefully the right decision was made as we are now owners of a 2007 PW Lexor TS.

First real trip in this will be first week in May(our anniversary week). Go North and explore.

Thoughts at the moment are to head for Ruby Falls and stay at Unicoi State Park in Ga for a couple of days on the way there. Suggestions?

Filling a 31 gallon gas tank is a shock to the wallet. So far around 12 mpg in town and 14 to 15 on the highway. I am sure N Ga roads will drop the mileage

Scheduling problems still happening. I would have loved to try it out at Hanna Park this weekend but Jackye had to drive her Mom home to Alabama this weekend.

Thoughts are when we have a specific destination in mind and are staying for a few days we are going to take the trailer. If we are touring we will take the Class B.

We have been driving the PW to work at least one day a week. It has been nice as we have been eating lunch in it. Start up the generator, nuke the food, fire up the AC, throw a dvd in and watch a movie.

Gotta be careful though, getting sleepy after lunch, very tempting to take a nap.

Congrats Mike and Jackye,

I have not seen you guys in a while. Post some pictures when you get time. I know that things have been pretty busy on the tech end of district business lately. Hopefully we can camp at Hanna Park or Camp Blanding with you two soon.

Congratulations on the new addition.   I hope it works out for the best..

You say Ruby Falls and Unicoi.  Unicoi is a good SP convenient to Helen Ga.  It boast a nice Inn along with an AUCE Trout Buffet.  Helen (real dirty) was a complete let down for us as was the campground experience at Unicoi.  At Unicoi, the campsites are down in a ravine type area and you get very little breeze.  If I were you, I would avoid Unicoi and try either Vogal or or Moccasin Creek near Blairsville and not too far from Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in GA.   Both are good SP with hiking trails and swimming beaches.

On visiting Ruby Falls, I like Cloudland Canyon SP on Lookout Mountain a short distance south of Chattanooga and Ruby Falls.  At over 1700 feet, it was cool for those hikes to the bottom.  We stayed in the west camping area which was more to our liking as the sites were bigger and less close together.

Enjoy, Richard
