My camper has some cracks in the roof caulking around the bathroom vent.  I was thinking of using 3M 5200 (I have a brand new tube at home) over the cracks but now I'm not sure after looking around a bit.  It's a 2006 Flagstaff and has the white rubber or vinyl (not sure) roof.  I wouln't need to actually put it on the roof material anywhere just over the self-leveling caulk that was used at the factory.

Should I go ahead and get some Dicor instead or is 5200 a decent choice?

If it has a rubber roof, don't use 5200.  If you have to change out a vent as I just did, I can guarantee you will tear your roof getting it off.

I used Lap Sealent by Dicon.  Specially formulated for rubber roofs.  It should be available at most RV dealers including Camping World.  http://www.dicor.com/roofmaintenance.html

I wouldn't really need to put it on the roof membrane anywhere.  All I was going to do is put it over the cracks in the existing Dicor.

chuckc Everything I have read about rubber roofs said to use the Dicor. My roof is aluminum so I just use silicone.

Thanks for the input everyone.  I guess I'll go with Dicor since that seems to be the proper choice.

Eternabond seeems to be the permanent solution to cracking caulk.

Got the Dicor and used it while at Anastasia this past weekend.  Easy to work with and fortunately easy to get to the spots that needed touching up.  The oly mishap was sticking my palm on one spot but the Dicor came off pretty easily.

It was absolutely beautiful down there this weekend and there were very few bugs too.  We are fortunate to have so many excellent choices within an easy drive of Jax.

Glad your repair and trip were enjoyable.  I wish we could get into Anastasia, we have too much trouble getting in most of the loops with our rig.

Some of the loops are very tight but Coquina isn't too bad at all.  It is tough to get a reservation for a weekend down there though.
