I have been looking for Rogers Rangers, from the movie "Northwest Passage".  The country side is fabulous.  If I didn't know we were in NY I would bet we were in Oregon.  The only thing different is the size of the trees.

We are in a Boo-Boo, Jellystone, Yogie Bear campground whatever in North Hudson NY.  We have plans to visit Historic Fort Ticonderoga tomorrow.

Today, we went into the town of Ticonderoga in search of a Wal-Mart.  We found one.  We also stumbled onto this waterfall that is all that remains of 2 graphite mills from 1800-1926.  The covered bridge (Kissing Bridge) has a iron support structure that is original.

Today, we visited Fort Ticonderoga located just north of Lake George on Lake Champlain.  The fort was built by the French and named Fort Carillon between 1755 and 1759.
On July 8, 1758 the Fort was successfully defended by a French army of 3500 soldiers under the command of Louis-Joseph le Marquis de Montcalm despite being severely outnumber by an attacking British army of 16,000 troops under the command of General James Abercromby. This was France's greatest victory in the Seven Years' War.

At the outset of the American Revolution a small company of British soldiers still manned the Fort. On May 10, 1775, Ethan Allen, Benedict Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys crossed Lake Champlain from Vermont and at dawn surprised and captured the sleeping garrison. This was the first American victory of the Revolutionary War.

Donna and I practicing for the next rebellion, our guide, Sutlers setting up for this weekend 250th anniversary.

Very cool.  :clap  Did you know the average French person consumes 43.6 pounds of cheese each year?

If everything goes ok tomorrow, we will depart here and head back to Ticonderoga where we will take the ole Ford and Piper aboard a small ferry.  The ferry will transport us and our rig across Lake Champlain to Vermont saving us about 200 miles.
