We are in New Hampshire staying at Eastern Slope Camping area in North Conway. The temperature this morning is a balmy 65 degrees.
Our plan today is to catch the Conway Scenic Train for lunch then drive to the top of Mt Washington. Diesel is $4.74 per gallon here.
Today it is again overcast. Seems like the rainy weather won't leave us.
Pictures to follow.

Richard and Donna,
We were in North Conway three years ago but we stayed at the Holiday Inn right down the street from the Conway Scenic Train. I LOVED IT THERE! Everything is so beautiful in that part of the country. Next time we'll try the drive up Mt. Washington instead of the Cog RR.
You might want to look around and see if you see my picture on the walls of the outlet stores. I was their best customer. LOL
Have a great time and I hope the weather clears up for you.

Been in that area soooooo many times! A few memories:
When you get to the summit of Mt. Washington, say hello to my mother. Her name is Pauline. She and my father camped all through the Presidential Range in the 30s, before I was born. She died at 91 and wanted her ashes scattered at the summit so we took her up to the top of the hill for her last ride on the Cog Railway. Before we boarded the train, we had a tailgate champagne picnic in her honor in the parking lot and a big black BEAR kept eyeing us and moving closer....and closer.....and boy did we eat up fast and board that train!
After 3 years of widowhood, I peeked at Match.com. Ultimately, I found my Don there and we have been happily wed since 1998. However, I met my first Match.com man (not Don) in person in North Conway (half way between me in Vermont and him in Maine) at the LL Bean store! What fun! Since he worked at LL Bean in Maine, and Don and I were there waaaaay too often, Don has met him and liked him, too. I just didn't like him enough to have a romance with him.......Don won!!!
Don and I have camped in tents all through the state parks in northern New England. They are wonderful, BUT it is dry camping. No hookups. Water available every few hundred feet, and a dump station, too, but no electricity. If you get over to Maine, our favorite is Cobscook Bay State Park, way downeast near Machias. (Our avatar picture was taken there.) Site 125 is the most beautiful campsite in the whole world!!!! Watch the seals swim past the campsite while the Bald Eagles soar over head, and then dig yourself a peck of sweet clams........aaaaahhhhhh.......

Well it has rained or threatened rain all day kinda messing our plans up. We did board the Conway Scenic train at North Conway and had a wonderful lunch. A cup of Lobster Bisque, a spring salad with crab cakes and followed by a smore pie. The meal was included in the cost of the ride for 1 1/2 hrs @$38.95 each.
After the ride we headed toward the Mt Washington road the weather won. We instead took in the visible sites in Crawford Notch State Park. I took a picture of a rock cliff face above the railroad tracks. When we were here several years ago in the winter, we saw a man ice climbing that same face.
On the way back, we stopped at LL Bean Outlet shop and bought the grand kids new back packs and lunch boxes.
Ok Greg, a double space after each...

We love the pictures.
Donna - I love the LL Bean store. When we went, Taylor got the cutest back pack. It had pink and white flowers. I loved shopping at the tax free outlet stores in NH.
We truly did love that trip up there. I'm so jealous.
Richard - technical question. Steve's brother has a Cedar Creek fiver. He is experiencing the ole rotten egg odor, but only when using the shower or bathroom faucet. Not the kitchen faucet. Seems strange to me. What is a girl to do?
Have a safe trip.
