We pulled into the Bar Harbor area this afternoon. This will be the furthest north we travel this trip. Everything from here on out will be on the return trip.
We are staying at the KOA Woodlands area. Not the nicest campground we have been to, more like a State Park, Electric, Water, Cable, Wi Fi but no sewer. At $55.00 a night, it is the most expensive. The KOA has a Bay camping area and the Woodlands. The Bay is more expensive than this but no shade, looks like a parking lot. The KOA offers a nightly special of (2-lobsters, 2 ears of corn, 2 slaw) for $36.00 total. We will try that tomorrow night.
On the way onto Desert Island, we passed the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound. It was packed with people. After setup, we decided to return and eat there. Lobster was $10.95 per pound (cooked)for a small lobster and $11.95 (cooked) for large. Raw lobster was $2.00 less per pound. As you can see, Donna got a whopper. You choose your lobster, they put it in a net bag with a number and then take it outside to a wood fired steaming area. Takes 20 minutes or so for it to cook.
We will take advantage of the free shuttle as we explore Acadia National Park starting tomorrow.
