We showed up in Bar Harbor dressed as usual, T-shirt and shorts to take the Whale Watch Tour. The Ticket Girl said we should dress warm. Heck, we had remembered to bring a hooded sweat shirt. The more we thought about it, we decided to find some pants and went shopping.
After shopping, we took in a healthy lunch of Chowda, Lobster Roll, and Potatoes and washed it down with a cold beah.
Our boat was late getting to the dock from the previous tour so we actually boarded around 1:30pm. This boat is powered by four, 700 HP diesels driving jet pumps. They said we would cruise at 40 and I believe we did. As soon as we cleared the dock, the Captain put the hammer down and for the next 45 minutes we headed out to sea. Sure glad we found some sweat pants because it got real cold. It must have dropped 20 degrees and the wind was blowing hard. We passed Cadillac Mountain and a lighthouse located on a rock 27 miles out in the Atlantic before reaching the Whale area. After about 15 minutes of bobbing around, We spotted a two whales. One being a Humpback.
We returned to Bar Harbor after 3 hours. The tide was out and people were walking across a dry(due to low tide)sand bar between Bar Harbor and Bar Island. Visitors were warned to retreat before the tide started coming in.

Dee-ah, your accent is getting really good! Have you noticed how native Mainers say "deeah" to total strangers, much like southerners will call you "hon?"
Once again, your pictures are tops! We took our grandchildren whalewatching on that boat several years ago. We only saw two minke whales though.
Have you been to the top of Cadillac Mountain yet? It's not so tough a ride and the views all around are fantastic.
And that lobstah roll is making me downright HOMESICK!
Have fun and travel safe.
