Ok boys and girls I need a recommendation on a good 15 to 20 gal tote tank. I need one that will completely empty as it will be necessary for me to use it for both black and grey tanks. The tanks in our camper are very small and as the kids get bigger they use more and more water. I know most will say not to use for the black tank but I will need to do so. As long as it fully empties and is rinseable I don't see any problems with it.

| Greg it is difficult to get every drop out. I use a Tote-N- Stor 25 gallon. Do keep in mind that water is very heavy. Mine is rinseable

Well Greg as king of the black tank operation I would recommend a 35 gal assuming your going to pull it with your camper to dump.. I had one with my 5'er and pulled it with the dualley. 20 or 30 gal tanks are heavy.
Also consider where your going to stow it while traveling..
Hate the blue tank! We just drive the unit to dump now.

| I want something towable I will be towing it with the bicycle though not the truck. Once I park the truck and camper I don't move it until time to go home hence the tote tank.

Steer clear of the Thetford models.

We have an 18 gallon one. When full, it is all Donna and I can do to put it into the truck. We only dare to pull it with the truck when campground roads are paved smooth. While the folks at Thetford talk a good game, this brand is a real joke. It does offer a wash out hose and a fill gauge. The wash out attaches to where the gauge is located and there is very little washout obtained. The hose usually pulls off when I try to wash it out. We have never been able to completely empty the tank.
POOR DESIGN: 
First, there is no valve to close, only picking up the hose above the level of the water then inserting the cap (water seeks it's own level) can you seal it off. Second, the hose is dangerously close to the ground, protected by a flimsly piece of plastic so when towed, the hose can become riped or pulled lose spilling all your business along the campground roads. The result is a thin blue line back to your site and you becoming the campground gossip for the next year. Kind of like backing your truck into the trailer busting out the rear window.

Hey Greg, I have a couple of 5 gallon buckets you can have.....LOL
My wife told me that I too need to look for one. I have never filled our black tanks (we have two 18.5 gallon tanks) while camping, but we have filled one of our grey tanks. Both of my grey tanks are 37 gallons each and if we camp for a week without full hookup, the kitchen sink tank will fill.
My wife has only had to wash the dishes in the shower once and this was when we were camping for a week.

Yea my wife suggested the 5 gal pal also. I always have lots of them around. I get them from Firehouse subs for 2.00 it takes awhile to get the pickle smell out though.
Our black tank is only 5 gals and the grey 10 so they fill up fast. I am not sure what it is about little girls but they seem to have to go to the potty alot. It is getting really tired with my monotering how much water everyone uses during campouts. I figure it I get a tote tank I will have little more peace of mind. There is nothing worse then waking up in the middle of the night to use the potty and find the bathroom floor full of water. Yuk.
I have heard that about the thetford models thanks Richard. My wife is an environmental chemist and the last thing I want is for her company to be called up for testing because of my spill.

| Spend the money up front, I bought one of the smaller (cheaper) ones and it is really a pain! I'd make less of a mess with 3 five gallon buckets. I'll end up going back and buying one with all the bells and whistles. 4-wheels and a tow handle with it's own hoses.

I don't personally have one of these. But I have heard that these are probably the best on the market and great customer service from the company. Looks like the four wheel model might fit the bill.

| Has anyone ever purchased anything from http://www.rvexit.com they have the 22 gal barker for 99.95 with free shipping. I don't think I will need the four wheel model especially at double the cost. I all so don't think I would like the way it dumps. It is too much like the Thetford that everyone seems to dislike.

| It looks like the thetford and the four wheel barker have a valve or lever that folds down to dump. The two wheel barkers looks to just have a molded outlet in the bottom no moving parts.

Greg...here are pictures of my tote (turned on it's side) with the dump valve closed and opened. You can close the valve or leave it open after you have dumped the tank then hook a hose to it (on top) and flush it out.
