Hi, my husband and I are looking for a place to visit on our family vacation.  We live in Indianapolis and would like to visit Hannah park July 5- 11, 2007.  We have 4 year old twins.  We need a place kid friendly with lots of fun stuff to do.  What type of things are there to do?  The website didn't really tell me much.  Thanks for any help to make our decision.

History:
Located on the sandy shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Hanna Park boasts sunny beaches, freshwater lakes, and wooded campsites. The park features 1.5 miles of sandy beaches. Dolphin Pavilion is available for oceanfront rentals for meetings, weddings or reunions. Hanna Park`s 60-acre freshwater lake is perfect for fishing, kayaking, paddle boats, and canoes. Lakeside picnic tables and grills are available, and scenic trails surround the lake and wind through the lush green forest. The lake area includes a quarter-acre water playground with colorful fountains and playful water-squirting devices.

They do have some really good mountain bike trails along with a mountain bike rinsing area.  The whole facility has nice llarge paved roads for bicycling if you don't like the mountain bike thing.  They also have some hiking trails although I've only crossed them while biking.  Oh and did I mention they have the beach!!!  I belive you can rent canoes to use in the lake.

I sure hope you all have a great time visiting.

I know that the twins will love the little water park it is perfect for kids their age.  As already posted there are a lot of bike trails as well as paved roads to bike on.  The beach and fresh water lake are both very nice.  There are lots of other state parks in the area to tour and get a great feel for the real Florida as they say.  You could take day trips to St Augustine and Fernandina Beach there is allot if history in both locations.  The is Little Talbot Island and Big Talbot Island state parks as well as Fort Clinch state park which often has soldiers reenacting life in the fort.   You can rent kayaks in the area and tour the flood plains of the intra coastal waterway.  I believe that you can still rent horses to ride along the beach on Amelia Island.  There is a water park on Beach Blvd. in Jax beach about 10 miles away.  Maybe some one from the group will be camping at Hanna park that week and would be able to show you around a little bit or at least help out with directions.

Thank you very much for the information.  This is very helpful in making our decision.

I do have another question.  We have a crewcab super duty dually with a 36 ft 5th wheel toy hauler.  My husband read somewhere that some areas are tight to get into and out of.  Do you think we would have any problems getting in and out of any sites?

It can be a little tricky to get in and out of some of the sites.  Just get the biggest pull through you can get and you will be fine.  One of our members was there with us last month and they have a 37 foot raptor with the a Chevy  cc dually

If you call the camp ground at (904) 247-8688 I am sure they could send you a brocure. I have seen everything from tents to provost mh inthat park. If you can plan to be there for the 4th you can sit on the beach and watch fire works.
