Hi... I was refered to the site from Luvs2camp so have been checking it out and wanted to say high rather then just lurk.
We camp pretty regularly with a group called the Florida Pop-up Campers but have free weekends to do more. Especially if its closer to home.
We have 3 boyz, ages 6,7,10.... any other kids out there (I saw a bunch of young ones mentioned)? The boyz enjoy camping but absolutely love it when there are other kids around.
How do things work here? Does someone just suggest a place and weekend and see who joins in? Do you have pot lucks or anything like that? Is there a camp host, one camper where people hang out or just everyone mingling? About how many families attend each trip?
sorry to ask so many questions, just trying to get my bearings.

Welcome to the group Cheryl,
For the most part, someone says "hey how about us going here." Then those of us who are off or want to go, join in and somehow we end up with group of camping misfits who love to have fun and laugh around a campfire.
Greg & Phil pretty much keep the Zoo under control. At the last major outing we had at Hanna Park, there were as many kids as adults. And thats not counting Phil as a kid. We will be having our 1st annual rally in March. Hope you and the family can make it.
As far as food & potluck dinners....well let me just say I hope you and your family are not health food people. When we get togeather we eat like Pigs. All diets go out the window !!!!
As far as a host camper goes, I just go to the site with the most food. Then after the kids go to bed I go to the site with the most adult beverages !!! Works out great for me !!!!

Hi Cheryl! Glad you joined our club. If you look to the right ---> of your screen you will see our Upcoming Events Calendar. Click on any of the events and it will bring you to the actual calendar. There you can check out each event day, which would show you who is going and what site they are booked on. You are pretty much correct as to how we go about choosing to camp where and when. Some of us are actually already booked for next Thanksgiving at Gamble Rogers.
I agree with Clyde that someone hollars let's have the potluck here and we all wander on over. (It usually is discussed before we leave for the trip though.) As for the unhealthy food, yup they sure do have lots of it. That's when your little voice says, "Back Away From the Buffet".
Since being a part of this group I belive the average attendees are between 10-12, but I could be wrong?
We definitely have a large group going to our 1st Rally, so don't miss out on that. Seems we have more and more members joining with children. The more the merrier!
