Laura Walker would make a great place for a rally...

I also love the SOS idea.

You think that Laura Walker is big enough for all of the Club Members? I thought that there were more than 40 sites taken at the Crooked River Rally, and in a year from now the club could grow more.

You are right.  As we continue to grow, there will be no one campground capable of handling all of us.  With that in mind, a campground with 40-60 spots will have to do.  Even just having a central area like Gainesville, Jacksonville, Waycross, staying at various campgrounds and just meet for the pot luck and get together at a single building large enough for it.

Eventually, mini rallys or get togethers like at Laura Walker will accomplish the same thing.

Greg ~ have you contacted any of the campgrounds suggested? Not rushing, just wondering.

If we can find a place to have the rally at with another campground close by, this will help out just in case the first one fills up and there are still campers wanting to go.

It doesn't matter to us, just post as soon as you make confirmation and I will make sure that we will reserve a spot.

If we go to a FL or GA state park, we can reserve 11 months out.  That means it is time to make reservations now.

So far it looks like SOS. With 600 improved sites I think they can handle us but I am waiting on a call regarding the fees to rent a hall for the potluck.

Burlow Plantation looks like a really nice park and has a room that will seat up to 150 people but there rates will not make some of us happy. For example the standard w&e site for two days with two kids would be 116.00. They did mention a group discount but I am not sure what it is they are sending me some information in the mail. I am fine with that after all it is only one weekend.

I am still checking some of the other suggestions as I said before we really need an enclosed hall that will seat at least 100. I will keep everyone updated as I get information.

Here's another one to think about, "Skidaway Island State Park".  We were there last year and really liked the park and surrounding area. Only about 20 minutes from Savannah if my memory serves me right.  They also have an air conditioned group shelter with kitchen, outside bbq and seating for 150.  The park has 87 sites and 75 are currently available for March 12-14, 2010.

I just got off the phone with Ira at Twin Oaks Park in Waycross Ga. They have over 800 sites with water and electric along with 4 dump stations. The sites there are 15.00 per night and they would allow us to use the indoor rec building for free. I like the sound of that....

Now if we could just get the timing right for a Bluegrass convention you'll get my vote!

Tom I have to talk with Rhonda and Gina but we may have a live band for next years rally. Wouldn't that be nice?

SOSMP always has some kind of weekend music and it's usually a local country band.  Thursday night's they have karaoke.

I have heard that SOS are on top of one another.  Don't like that at all.  If we go to Twin Oaks, I'll rent 2 spots.

Twin Oaks gets my vote @ $15X2= $30. per night with room to strech out.
