I have not heard anything about that and doubt that it will happen. Most truck drivers work for national companies that will not participate in a strike so at best they will get some of the owner operators to strike. Even if there is a strike nothing will change. The oil companies have more than enough money to wait out any strike.

We still pay less for gas than most parts of the world.  Mark's parents still live in Dubai and they pay the same amount of money for gas as we do and that's an Arab country folks!

When will it all stop?? The gas prices are getting out of hand. Maybe the Teamsters will park their trucks. Something has to give.

In my opinion it will only stop when the greedy investors stop pushing the oil futures through the roof, as long as there is a dollar to be made they are not going to stop. As well as the tree hugger's that would rather sell this country to foreign investors then let us build a new refinery and drill a couple of wells.

We have heard alot about this and from what we hear...(not sure this will actually happen or not)but several BIG companies (truck company's that is)ARE planning on a mass strike. We have friends in the trucking industry still (hubby did this for 17 years o/o and 3 years with companies) They say they can't get drivers because they can't make money due to gas increases no drives makes the company lose money two ways .....one with no drivers to move freight and the other due to price of gas.  They (even the national companys) can increase prices of goods and services but not by enough because then the prices would not be reachable for the average consumers.

Its all a big crock...in Brazil they only pay like .50 a gallon so why so high here???

Truck companys have had enough and so have the drivers.  Its true other places pay as much if not more then we do but there are many that don't and for it to go up this much in just 1.5 years is ridiculous and EXtremely fishy. There is no reason for it.

One person said there company has been talking to all the drivers to see about down time and who could / would with stand a LONG strike/down time if need be. (this is a MAJOR company)so maybe its not so far fetched or out of the question.

Now like Greg said what good will it do???  That would be the question.  I did read something somewhere which said though that if everyone were to boycott...say just one peticular company like say Exxon for example just for one week. It would put a hurtin on them. Even with all that money it would be tons of money lost.

The so called strike was to begin the first week or so of April.  As we were traveling home from Salt Springs, I saw a sign in the front yard (semi dump truck parked) which stated "On Strike For Lower Fuel Cost".  When I got home, I followed up on it and it was a not so organized one day strike the fizzled.  Here is the story; http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,344170,00.html

I am afraid the only thing that will effect price is a decrease in demand or an increase in production. Neither very likely

This is something new that just occurred in the past week or so,  it was not planned for beginning of april (I heard they were working on trying to make it happen where it will cause the most impact like over the memorial day weekend) and then there was also talk to getting more people/ companys involved ) They wanted to set it for a major holiday to create more impact.  There was ...at the beginning of April a bunch of Truckers (like 200) it was on the news here that held a protest in Washington DC and caused traffic jams and such but that is not what this was about.  This was a Teamsters strike talk.....last time there was one here it shut down the city for three days.  Guess we will all have to wait and see.

I don't buy the supply and demand thing though....there is less demand right now cause people can't afford the cost but it keeps going higher anyway....they just blame it on supply and demand. There is nothing us average joe's can do about it though except suck it up and stop driving LOL
