Jekyll Island Camp Ground in GA is a super nice place to camp. If you don't mind a rustic place. The people are so friendly. We go there quite often.Attachment: P1000265.jpg (Downloaded 74 times)

I did not realize there were so many trees there I assumed that since it was on the island that it would be more open.

Hello Art and Caroline. Did you see anyone camping with their dog at this campground. Those trees remind us of Little Talbot Island SP with the high shade.

| Lots of trees, lots of pets, and a lot of nice people. Short supply of pull thru spots though. Especially in cold months. We just camped there over the Veterans Day weekend and it was full. There are a lot, and I mean a whole lot of people that are there for 1-2 months. Large group down from Canada was along one section. We were married on the island and have camped there a few times. It is a GREAT place to go for the weekend or a week. Lots of bike trails, fishing pier across from campground and 3 golf courses is just a start of things to do. Welcome to the club chrisnjimmy. It seems that everyone who has been here liked so maybe we should try to set up a weekend there next year. I would like to go once the water park opens. I think the kids would really like that.

Our neighbor told us about this campground. He loves it for going to summer waves water park so we are going to try it next summer for a long weekend.

It might be me and the type of campgrounds I like but the camp ground it self was not my cup of tea. Sites to close together very dusty as all roadway at the campground are dirt and they have to water it down a lot to try and keep the dust down . For the price there is nothing special about the campground. It is only good because it is close to the resort area and the beach. The bicycles paths are better than the campground. Don't have any experience with the water park. Just my opinion.

Al From the picture posted I will agree that it is not my favorite type of campground. I will be honest I prefer the resort type campground with paved roads and a concrete slab to park on. With that said I still want to go here so that the kids can go to the water park.
Does anyone know if they have a shuttle to the water park?

| I do have to agree there is alot of fun things to do on the island. I don't mind campgrounds with out the paved roads or slabs as long as it is hard packed and not a dust bowl. Even if it were sandy it would be better.

I agree with ya moose, I dont like being "sardined" either. Neighbor said the campground aint much but the proximity to the water park and beaches were why they went. Wish there was a hannah park type ground up there. We love that place!

Dawn & I drove thru there this past summer just checking it out. Yes I was up there fishing !!!
They use the term "rustic", I prefer the term "run down". It looked like they have some "long term" campers in there like from back in the 50's. From what we saw the sites are very close to each other with very few amenaties.
I was not impressed, but thats just my opinion.

| We have camped at Hannah and at Jekyll. I am surprised that you wished there was a Hannah type campground instead. I thought Hannah was just as tight, not well kept, roads were tough to navigate with anything more than a 25' TT. I agree that is is dusty, but there is a drought in Georgia. Hannah campground in nothing special to speak of and neither is the Jekyll campground. All the activities at both places keep you from needing a "resort" campground to keep you busy.

At Hannah you have to pick your spots. I drive around by bike and look for the good pull throughs and there are some nice private ones. It can be hairy driving around though. Kids love to bike around and I love the beaches. Store up front is nice and some decent seafood places nearby. Big plus for us is the sewer hookup. When staying 2-3 days we have to dump and its nice not having to go to a station. Bike trails and hike trails are cool too but everyone has their opinion on what they like.
