We came to Tampa this weekend because our son, Rick was being inducted into the USF Gama Chapter of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society.

Any way, we needed a place to stay so I booked a room at the on campus Embassy Suites Hotel.  2 days for $277.00.  Then on Wednesday, I said to Donna, I must have been brain dead.  Why don't we pull the trailer down there and stay at Hillsborough River State Park.  Needless to say they were booked.  We then decided to come back to Happy Traveler Rv Park just down the road from the College.  $54.00 for 2 days-cancelled hotel reservations....

The campground is located about 3/4 miles west of I-75 on East Fowler Avenue at the corner of Walker Road in Thonotosassa, Fl 33592.  About 4 miles from Bush Gardens.  This park has 224 sites with full hookups, heated pool, cable etc.  All but 22 spaces are full timer/retired seniors.  Out of the 22 transiet sites, only 2 are without shade.  The park itself is very quiet but there is a little road noise.  (we are in site 73 backed up against a privacy fence that fronts Walker Road and the occasional passing car)  Happy Traveler also has propane, horse shoe pits, and shuffleboard.  The park management is easy to get along with and very helpful.

If any of you guys are thinking about Bush Gardens or other Tampa area sites, You should look here.  http://www.happytravelerrvpark.com/
