Can you say Party Central:shock:  This place is wild at least it was on the weekend we went there.  My wife's company hosted a weekend camping trip here a couple of years ago and we could not believe the partying that went on.  I have never seen so many kegs at a campground.  Ok I had never seen a keg at a campground before. And yes Chris's company brought a keg too.  The parties went on long into the night especially in the tent section. We were luckily in the rv area so we were able to get to sleep with out inducing a drunken stupor.  The springs were great but very crowded and endangered in my opinion.

I agree with you on this, I have camped there and the traffic in that spring is ridiculous. Continued over use will invite State regulation or worse, kill the Golden Goose. Horribly over priced as well. Not on my repeat list.

If you can go during the week the place is great, but the weekends it goes nuts. There aren't many rules!! You can take 4 wheelers, go carts or whatever. We took a kawasaki mule and had a great time. The springs are awesome. The prices are a little out of line though.

Looks we are going to be going back. We were at a party with one of the co-owners of the company that my wife works with and they want to have another company outing there. How can I say no when the pay the price of admission, bring the beer and pay for a catered lunch on Saturday.

I've been hitting Ginnie for over 20 years now.  No, it's not the relaxing get-a-way on a summer weekend, but during the week or even on weekends during the winter months, we've always had a great relaxing time.  The added plus is we usually line up a dive or two while we're there.  Every once in a while.... we need a party too, so we hit in smack dab in the summer!

I'd have to agree on the prices.... they're a little much.

We will be camping for the very first time @ Ginnie Springs...the weekend after 3/11/08.  I am bringing teenage and pre-teen kids...anything for them to do?  Safe for these girls?  I also have a handicapped child (she will be 11) safe for her? fun for her?  These negative reviews are scaring me.  We want to go someplace fun for the kids but also safe (maybe relaxing for me at night)  We are tent campers, not very experienced, we want to stay kind of close to home (We live in Jacksonville) but, the kids don't want to go to Hannah Park (they have been there before).  Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone :D

I know you all will have a good time.  It's early in the year, so the college crowd is not there yet.  During the summer it gets rowdy from all the college kids on the weekend.  It's still not a dangerous place at anytime, just a little noisy around the main spring.  They post signs if there is an event that may be noisy after dark, so you can camp further away.  I've been going there since the 80's when I was a child, and still make several trips a year with my family.  There are kids and families of all ages.

The springs are great for the kids to swim in.. you can rent tubes or bring your own and go down the tube run in the river.  They also have canoe rentals....  There are usually lots of divers in "Ginnie" especially early in the morning.  Dive classes have their checkout dives there.  The kids all like to watch them from the surface.  Bring a mask and snorkel if you have one.

Since you are tent camping, you can get as far back along the river away from the main spring as you'd like, or stay right up close.  The closer to the main spring, the more noise you will hear just from all the daily visitors and pavilions.  I would recommend heading back by Deer Spring, it's a great little private spring and you can walk the tube trail up to the main spring.

We've never had a bad time at Ginnie.  The only down fall we have with Ginnie is its cost per person is high.

We may even camp that same thur, fri, sat at Ginnie.

Tom

Oh... the water is COLD

You may want to take a look at Salt Springs, it would be a little more developed, a lot cheaper,  but still a great camping spot and very relaxing.
