We just camped at Oleno St Pk over the weekend (jan25-27). This parks road system inside of camping loops are basically like hoachyman trails(dirt roads with deep water run off grooves ). I did see a lot of big rigs there but wondered how they liked coming through the the loop roads! The bathrooms were VERY clean and roomy showers. The main area of the park was nice. There was a small museum and a really cool suspension bridge. We did get yelled at for being in a large lodge type cabin( like it was our fault the doors were unlocked and wide open-LOL). We choose this campground so we could go to the Gainesville Renaissance Festival. It rained the whole weekend so we hung around the camper. Not a bad time considering the weather, but I do love camping!

We looked a O'leno last year. Needless to say, the State Money Truck doesn't come close to this park..The Oregon Trail was in better condition than the campground roads. We actually used 4 wheel drive upon exiting the Magnolia loop.
I wish the park was in better shape, you guys with pop-ups should be ok to go but beware of the sand.
It is a shame too. Just down the road in High Springs, there is a little diner called Floyd's. Great place to eat.

| I like O'Leno in the winter time. Very quiet, not much to do but relax and watch the deer walk through the CG each day.

| We spent the weekend here as well.Had a great time except for the rain and cold. The tent did keep most of the rain out but the wife and I went looking at used pop ups yesterday. SHe was not to happy with being cold all night. Had a minor problem with someone who had a little to much to drink also and went through the dogwood campsite a little to loud. But as far as the park goes nothing but good things to say.

For the money you are going to spend in a new Pop-up you might be better off looking for a nice, used travel trailer. Believe me, your Wife will thank you for it later on!

She would agree with you I am sure fireranger, but I wanted to start out slow and not sink alot of money into a used pop up( I am also looking for a good used one if anyone knows where one could be found). And also ensure she will continue to enjoy it. The kids and I can go tent camping and be happy but I am trying to keep her happy as well. And we all know how important that part is,

Tell me about it! We went from tent to trailer to bus in less than two years. The bus transition was mainly because I wanted a diesel coach. I sleep very light and a tent will not work for me.

| I am just getting her started in the whole outdoors thing and I don't want her to just take the camping thing for granted if you know what I mean. She has gone hunting with me once and hated it, and fishing maybe three times and didn't exactly have the time of her life so I am trying hard not to mess this up. But she said she will continue with the tent as long as we are actively looking and trying to get to something a little more suitable for her.

I thought Cindy (DW) was really cool with the pup but she has gone crazy about this travel trailer. I prefer the pup, but if she is going to go camping with me I want her to be happy. If she is happy she will want to go camping alot more.

| Yes I have learned that for sure. I have been camping for years w/o her but she kind of got the bug and it has opened up some more doors to get the family involved in the outdoors. I do enjoy tent camping more than anything so I hope we can enjoy the pop up as much as this.

I really wish we could have had the camping bug when the kids were smaller. I brought a pup years ago for $500. We took it to the Yogi Bear Park at Marineland. It was miserable. The pup did not have A/C and I know it was 2568 degrees . Needless to say we did not take it back out again. WE sold it for $500 so we were happy. Cindy said this one HAS TO HAVE A/C. I totally agreed that is a great family thing.

Yeah the kids and I have been going and she has been listening to all of the stories so I guess it intrigued her. We went to a camp called Chowenwea in green cove about a month ago with the kids and stayed in the old girl scout tree houses. The kids absolutely loved it , just not a bunch of activities. I am going to Rivers this afternoon to check out any used pop ups but AC is a must for the wife, and after this weekend at Oleno heat might be to .

Have you tried searching Craigslist for a used popup? They are on there a lot--you just have to be patient. We searched craigslist in Jax, Orlando, Spacecoast & Tampa. If you broaden your search a little you wil likely find something.
We ended up buying ours in Melbourne from a posting at:
http://www.arveeclub.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5
The above website you can post what you are looking for, price range and area of the country as well as looking at those for sale.
Good luck!
