This was the first time we have ventured to this area of Florida for camping in our fairly new Hybrid trailer.  Spent the second week in january there and really enjoyed the park.  Paved loop road and combined with the angled backin sites made it very easy to position our trailer.  Most of the visitors appeared to be from up north as the sites were very large and many had shade.  Normal state park fixtures, table, fire ring, elec and water,, but each site had a raised sprinkler head, probably as protection against future wild fires.  Nice bathhouse for each loop, variety of walking paths and very friendly campground host made our visit very relaxing.  Food, gas and shopping for supplies were just down the road and the coast was just a few miles away.  We will gladly go back to this campground any time we can get some time off.

Sorry I left out the location info.  Lake Manatee SP is on highway 64, east of I-75 in the Bradenton area, between Bradenton and Sarasota.  It is approximately 10 miles off the interstate on 64.  Right now the first few miles of 64 is being widened to 4 lanes so there is some construction.  The area near the park and to the east is heavy agriculture, tomatoes, and fresh strawberries.  Lots of fresh berries.  I think I failed to mention that the park has 30amp power rather than the 20 amp at some parks.

We go to Bradenton often,5 to 6 times a year,,,the D/W's parents live there. We have seen the sign several times and have thought about camping there on a long Holiday week end. My Father N Law says it is a very nice park.

This would be close enough to visit Yoder's.  A real Amish Restaurant with "To Die For Pies and other Deserts"  Saw it on the Travel Channel, we visited last spring.  Very good.

Jim, your right about the sprinkler heads, 5 - 6 years ago a lot of the park burned between the campground and the lake from a careless campers campfire. The park manager is real spooky about campfires now, if it is dry or windy.

By the way, we just missed you, we were there MLK weekend, cold and no campfires until Sun night after the rain. Nice park, very under utilized in my opinion, a lot of folks don't like the noise of the drag strip and race track only a mile away on US 64.
