We just got back from Yogi Bear's Campground in Madison FL. I will try my best to describe our experience at the park.

ATVs running around the campground (As early as 7am)

2 cashiers trying to take care of check-ins and selling food at the same time.

All the paddle boats and such at the marina were missing parts and were not in operating condition.

The park allows outsiders that are not registered campers to spend the day after paying "day-only" fees. We were advised by other campers who have been there before to lock your valuables and keep pets inside if you leave your rig. There have been several pets stolen from the park.

There is only one entrance to the park. Even if you already have a code to get back in the park you may have to wait 30 mins or more while other campers check-in at the office. No way to get around them.

Park facilities were clean and there were activities planned all weekend long.

The lake and the 60ft water slide were great (additional $15 per person for the weekend).

The park is under new management. It appears they are trying to establish a new  identity but are not quite sure about what to do. I would categorize this park more of a "theme park "  than a true Rv "get away" location.

Overall, we had a good time there but not enough to come back again.

Fireranger,

I was waiting for a review of that park. I thought my daughter and niece would like the water park. From the sound of it, I'd rather stick to the springs, lakes and beaches for swimming. Thanks for the review.

We look forward to seeing you and Heather at a campground somewhere soon.

Lesa

Thanks for the review Omar. I have heard allot of good things about this campground but often wondered about the atv's and golf carts It sounds like it might be a little to busy for my tastes.

Greg

You welcome Greg. The sad part is the campground has HUGE potential. They are under new management and I feel they are not quite sure which direction to go. We are lucky enough to sleep in a well insulated bus so ATV noise at 7am does not bother us.

There were so many fun activities planned for the entire weekend. Everything was fine until you went back to your Rv and wanted to enjoy the "other" part of Rving. Sit down and relax while enjoying a beautiful scenery.

My biggest problem was watching non-campers "roam" around the campground. I'm always b weekendig when it comes to security and I never understood why they allow people who are only there for the day to access all other areas besides the lake.

Maybe in a non-holiday weekend things may be a bit better????

we went with Heather and Omar Memorial weekend.

Our thoughts are:

Pros-great activities for the kids - most at no additional charge. Fantastic fireworks display on Friday and Saturday. Our site was in the overflow area - very large and shady spot.

Cons-Electric hook up was wired wrong - possibly newly installed hook up box? Paddle boats were all broken and unusable. We saw someone tip over into the water due to the boats condition and the water was filthy. Need new swing sets by lake - seats are dry-rotted in baby swings. The pool was shut down for the week end. Extra charge to ride big slide, ATV trails and paddle boats.

Yogi was cute, tho' !! Campground is under new management.
