Ok--I'm going to share my secret but don't spread the word about this place with too many people--dont' want this gem to get discovered and become overcrowed!!

First off--this place is rustic and no campers allowed.  It is not for the faint of heart!  Jenna said this was real camping and when we go in the camper--that is "fake camping"!  She may be right!  Delores--this sounds right up your alley--you have quite an adventurous spirit!!

You park in a centralized parking area at the front of the park. There is a locked gate with code that is closed at sunset. After you park,  you hike almost a 1/2 mile to the tent sites and treehouses.  Its an easy walk on a wide dirt road. The treehouses are so cool and definetly a unique camping experience. There are also some cabins available but I dont' know too much about those.  The tent site and treehouses do not have electric hookups but there is a central dining hall that you can use and they do have a refrigerator and stove to use if you need it.  There is also a firering centrailzed (they provide firewood) and a picnic table and grill at each site.  We were fortunate enough to chat with a guy in the parking lot when he told us that he had rented a bunch of treehouse and someone canceled--and asked us if we were interested.  Alek was ecstatic about that prospect and we took him up on his offer.  We ran home and packed a few things and headed back.  When you know you have to lug stuff you really pare down on the packing!

The treehouse was awesome--I will post some pictures when I figure out my camera!  Each treehouse has 4 bunk beds and didn't seem to cramped to us.  There are 2 wooden sides (where the bunks are) and 2 screened sides.  The views are incredible and waking up to the sounds of the birds singing was just magical.  We had light rain both Sat & Sun night and the pitter patter on the roof was very soothing.

The park is on Black Creek and there is a dock for fishing.  Other things to do there is hiking, picnicing, and swimming.  This camp used to be a girl scout camp and the county just refurbished the swimming pool and it is very nice--staffed by YMCA lifeguards.  This is a great place to spend an afternoon--swimming, fishing, and you could grill out or bring a picnic lunch.  I know we will be frequenting this place during the summer.  Probably won't camp again until fall--too many bugs in the summer and there is no electric--therefore no A/C---I can't do without A/C in the heat of summer.

Thanks for the review, I pass by this place on my way to Salt Springs and often wondered about it.

Great photos. I've stayed in those treehouses with my Girl Scouts.  You're right, no A/C.   We'd get up in the middle of the night and take a shower to cool off.  But we still enjoyed the time we spent there. Lots of fabulous memories. Chow was my favorite GS camp.

The pool is pretty nice.

This place sounds awesome! We will going there soon.  I did not see any reviews on the bathrooms or showers.  Do they have some? :D

The 9 houses are spread out in kind of a semi circle.  In the center--there is a screened dining hall and small kitchen that has a refrigerator, stove, and sink.  The bath house is also located close to this building.  The bathhouse was fairly clean and had 3 toilets, 3 showers and 3 sinks---it is coed though.

We camped here with the scouts several months back. The bath house was the parents (about 50 of us) biggest complaint. Since there is no boy's and girl's bath house, just one big bath house it got kinda "strange" a few times. As long as you pack light and not expect too many comforts, this is a great place to camp.
