For you camping purists out there this place is not a campground.  This is a vacation resort.  In fact once you set up your camper there is no reason to every leave again.  This campground has everything you could every want.  There are two pools one indoor a very nice town center which has a cafe, a very well stocked store, outdoor amphitheater with community fire pit and a laundry mat that even has drop off service.  All sites are pull through and very large in fact you could have placed another camper between most sites.  The bath houses were very clean and large with an unlimited supply of hot water.  Did I mention that this is an ocean front resort with great beach access!   The staff was very friendly and made my stay carefree.  I highly recommend staying here if you should ever be in the area.  I spent two weeks here and can't wait to go back.

Did I tell you how big this place was?  There are over 900 transient camping sites and just under 3000 permanent sites many of which people have erected lavish summer homes.

Great review and link.  We just added Ocean Lakes to our summer trip.

We were going to go from Columbia SC to Charleston, but now I think we will head striaght to coast on 378 to Myrtle Beach  and Ocean Lakes for a night or two.  Will let you know later this month if we make it there.

thanks again  :beer

Stan,

When are you leaving for Columbia S.C.?  I'm headed up that way (Summerville S.C ) to visit my brother on the way to Pohick Bay Campgrounds in Lorton Va late Wed 6-11 or early Thursday 6-12.

Joe, we are leaving Wednesday morning, but we are headed to Fl Caverns (marianna) first.  Then on to Red Bay, al., Tunica Mis ( casinos), Memphis (elvis, Peabody ducks and Bar=b-q), Kentucky Lake, mamouth cave Ky, Clermont Ky, (Jim Beam distilery), Lexington Horse Prk, Cumberland Falls Ky, Maggie vally(smokies), Ashville (Biltmore house) then to on to Myrtle beach, and Charlston and Hilton Head and then home. Sometime after the 4th of July.

Why don't call your brother tell him you will be a little late.  We will see him in a few weeks.

Come go with us.:D

Stan,

It sounds like you own an oil well...

I wish I could afford to take a trip like that with you. I'm only averaging 7 miles per gallon.

We are in Carolina Beach N.C. near Wilmington N.C., leaving for VA in the morning.

Maybe our paths will cross somewhere else.

Joe
