Now Red Top Mountain is a great campground.  This campground also has a 30+ room lodge and marina.  There are12 pull through sites in the campground along with 80 smaller sites.  The combination on the gate changes every Wednesday.  Water, Electric and cable are furnished.  This park is located about 35 miles north of downtown Atlanta.  The park has several hiking trails, swimming, fishing and all sorts of water sports on Lake Alatoona.

Nearby is Kennesaw Civil War Battle Field, Pickett's Mill, The Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History (Home of the General) "The Great Train Race" and  The Etowah Indian Mounds historic site.:P A lot to comprehend.  A short trip to Atlanta to visit the Coca Cola Museum, the Atlanta Aquarium, the Atlanta Zoo and Cyclorama.

Donna has put it off long enough about the pictures.  I will make sure she has an album that I can pass around at Fort Clinch.  In the mean time, I'll send a few.

This is an Iron Furnace.  At the turn of the 19 century, the North Georgia red clay was used in the process to produce pig iron.  This is the Cooper Furnace which ran from about 1820 to 1863 that was used to extract the iron.

And that is me to show the actual size.

You guys can't leave well enough alone.  :D

The screen name bailiff has been used by me for about 7 years.  I started work for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in 1972.  I flowed through various assignments, Patrol, Evidence Technician, and Crime Prevention.  In 1994 I was asked by a former Lieutenant to transfer to the court section.  I continued to work in the courts of Duval County until 1997 when I retired.  The Sheriff at that time "Glover" made it a "political point" that Police/Deputy Sheriffs, would be placed back on the streets.  Florida State Law requires the Sheriff or his designee to attend every session of court.  He and the Chief Judge banged heads until a compromise was reached.  The Sheriff removed the Deputy's and replaced them with a new position,  to be filled with retired officers and young non sworn BLE "Basic Law Enforcement training" persons called "Certified Police Bailiff's".  As a retiree, I took that position working for the Chief Judge of the 4th Judicial Circuit until I underwent heart surgery last October.  Donna has been teaching in the Duval County School System for 30 years.  So there you have it.  Donna and I have a daughter 27 and a son 20 who is a senior at the University of South Florida studying Mechanical Engineering.  We have 3 grand children.

Gary was my supervisor in the court section in 1997 when Donna had brain surgery at Shands Gainesville.  Gary didn't know the severity of the procedure and questioned me about getting off to drive down to see her everyday.  I told him that that was ok just put me down as "I quit" cause I'm going to Gainesville.  He then became familiar with my predicament.

Looking forward to seeing you again.
