Some of you may recall me talking about our summer trip to the North Georgia mountains and 6 State Parks.  We truly like there facilities.  Florida and Georgia has so much to offer with their parks and facilities.

Located north of Jacksonville is the fun city of Savannah Georgia.  Just southwest is the town of Richmond Hill.  There you can find Mort McAllister State Park with 65 very wooded campsites.  http://www.gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.aspx?LocationID=24&s=0.0.1.5 A preserved earthen fort held by the south during the Civil War.  A short drive to Savannah and all the food and sites of a historic and fun town.  Fort McAllister has a good camp ground located in the salt marshes of southern Georgia with good fishing.

This is another place we should consider as an alternate and future destination.  This should be a fall or early spring site because of the bugs associated with the salt marshes.

I could go for that,,, except,,,she does not take reservations for parties of less then 10. To get in you have to get in line very early in the morning and wait till 3:30 to get on the dinner list:?,if you can,the restaurant seats 300+ poeple,,this info is from her website. However there are a lot more places in Savannah,,,

I like Paul Dean, but waiting that long for a table is not for us.  It's difficult to wait 1/2 when we go out to eat with Owen.  :(

Fort McAllister is a very nice park.  My wife and I stayed there 2 years ago in our pop-up.  The campground is very nice, shaded and wooded.  There is also a nice fishing pier, but there aren't any fish in that damn marsh...I threw my line out for 2 hours and didn't catch anything!

I would definitely go back, it was our last stop on a 28 day trip in our pop-up.  The marsh is beautiful at sunset and dawn.
