OK all...I just talked to the golf course..

Greg... I said I was from NEFLCC.. I'm trying to get a discount!

The normal cost for weekends is $35.00 with cart

Club rentals are $16.00

The pro from the pro shop was off today so I have to call back tomorrow.  I am anticipating 4-6 foursomes.  I need a good guestimate as to who is playing, riding, etc for tomorrow (if possible)  I also need to try to figure out the best time to tee off... I'm thinking around 11:00 am.  Need feedback PLEASE!!! Right now I see four actual golfers.  We will need at least one real golfer per group.

Thanks,

Kevin

It never hurts to ask Kevin. 11:00 sounds good to me. Thanks for doing all the legwork for us.

I am playing and riding.

A normal round of golf takes 3-5 hours depending on the groups, skills and the course. Of course this is a weekend and we are camping, so a tee time should be around 10am - that way even with all the laughing we should be done between 2 & 3 pm so we can get ready for the NEFCC cocktail and pot luck party that night, right? We are having pot luck Saturday night, yes? We should car pool to save on parking, getting lost and have a disiganted (sp) Driver for the car/s. Just my thoughts.

90's? Yeah right! LOLOL

Well, I have a suggestion. We have to limit the amounts of strokes per newbie. I guess, what I am saying is, if you hit the ball 3 times off the Tee and it rolls 5 ft in front of you....well, you really need to pick it up and place it on the fairway.....Same thing from a sand wedge or the green. I mean, really, we could be there all day no the Tee....and I am including myself you know! LOL

Kay? Wendy? Kim? Chris? Mandy? Ya'll playing?

Rhonda..   that's the nice thing about a scramble format.  All 4 golfers tee off..then they determine the best shot.  The other 3 pick their balls up and go to the best ball.  Now all 4 hit from there. repeat until you hole out.  That way you don't spend all day on one hole.  We will have at least one "decent" golfer in every group.  Whattya say..   are you in?  Mandy...are you guys coming with all of us to Laura Walker.  I haven't seen your name on the list of people that made reservations.  Maybe Mark needs a golf weekend???    Let us know..

I've got to double check with Mark about camping in March.  I'm hoping he'll say yes.  :D

(Mzzz here)

Kevin, that is a good way to play. I didn't know that existed. Like I said, it has been over 20 years since I hit a golf ball and only played with a couple of folks....

Yeah....this will be fun!!!

I'm in for the "Best Ball Scramble (Captain's Choice)" as it does speed up play. Least until the "REAL" golfer hits it into the woods, sand trap, lake, well you get the idea. Oh yea BTW.....there is a lake.....lol

I'm in for anytime.....Nothing like playing golf with frost on the ground.....I keep my golf cart heater in the camper....oh yea!

Also, I really doubt that Kim will play, I'll ask, but I doubt it. That may also be the case for Rhonda (Thomas' wife) too!

Is it possible to have a lowest score when playing a scramble? I could make a small flag for the best score like the ones from the rally.

What happens Greg is instead of each player playing for the lowest score, you are playing as a team. So when you are playing a scramble, there would be 4 players that gets the same score.

Like Kevin mentioned everyone on the team would tee off, then out of those four balls, the team decides on which ball they want to play from. Keep in mind that this is not always the closet ball, but the which ball would give the team their next best shot. You would continue to do this until the ball gets into the hole.

Usually, with 1 good player and three average players, the team would shoot in the upper 60's to low 70's. I have played many tournaments to where we shot a 70 and didn't even place.

I have set up tourneys before and you have to make sure that you have something for each member of the team.....

Hope this helps.

OK  I will make reservations for 4 foursomes.  We have 4 decent golfers and 6 others.  That leaves us room for 2 more to play.  Mark and Mandy..maybe..  Tom's Rhonda?   I think we'll fill out all 4 tho..  maybe Richards son.

I'm booked for this trip but I don't think I will golf. Use to be real good at putt-putt but never tried the real thing.

OK folks...  I talked to the Pro at the golf course today.  We have 4 foursomes booked for Saturday the 13th of March.  First group tees off at 10:36, second at 10:44, third at 10:52 and fourth at 11:00.  They have discounted the cost.  Normal cost on that weekend is $37.50.  We are getting a $5 discount per person.  That means for people with their own clubs the cost will be $32.50.  For those that have to rent clubs, the cost of rental clubs is $16.00.  They are limited in rental clubs.  They have 4 mens right hand sets, 1 mens left hand set and 1 ladies right hand set.  For the golfers...bring as many spare sets of clubs as possible...

The groups will be captained by the four golfers..Richard, Dee, Thomas and Kevin.  We will put everyones name in a hat and the the captains will draw for their team!!  Good luck to all  and may the best team win!  Actually we need to make sure we have plenty of cameras and beer....maybe we'll start with mimosas for all!!!!   This should be very interesting!!  and fun!!!

The First Annual North East Florida Camping Club golf scramble!!!!!!

I think the winners should be served at the pot luck by the other teams!!   just a thought....
