| I have been thinking about trying a long distance trip this summer. I have not figured out where I'm going but I know that I going somewhere. I have been researching Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, Canada, and some other places of interest. Has anyone else been considering a long distance trip? | Short trips this year, heck just about all of my trips are short trips but I hate driving long distances.

2 summers ago, we did the Blue Ridge, to about Winchester Va, then up through Pennsylvania and ended up at Niagara Falls. Back down to Chattanooga Tenn then home, about 30 days.
Last summer, we did 38 days in 6 of Georgia's northern State Parks. We got a late start because of a new grandchild.
This summer we plan on taking 2 months, going to New York, Vermont, New Hampshire (we love New Hampshire) and Maine. Donna wants to stay at a KOA in Newburgh NY taking advantage of their daily tour bus to New York City. This was because of my statement that I hadn't lost anything in New York City and did not intend to go looking for something I hadn't lost with 55 feet of truck and camper. Can you imagine what that would be like ?

We are very much considering Niagra Falls in June. The Allegro club is hosting a trip there, and I think it would be a great experience. That is June 16-17 I think If interested in more info, let me know.

We are not taking any long distance trips next year we are going to concentrate on getting the house started and maybe even finished.
We will however take lots of little trips.

Thanks Stan and welcome.
Greg,
I remember when I wanted one of those Springfield houses and Aaron told me absolutely not but he would get me a big house but somewhere he wouldn't have to worry about our safety all the time. Its a great thing when a man keeps his promise. Now, I am waiting on him to get me the little country house on some land because I don't really like the big house business as much as I thought; I still miss my little house but not the land that it was on.
I am going to start with a trip home. It takes 10 hours but with the kids and CutiePie that has turned into 12 many a times. I have driven it many many times alone. I am trying to work up the nerves to go somewhere farther without Aaron but feel a little afraid to venture too far without him. I am not scared of the driving; its the safety part that makes me a little nervous. I'll do all the driving to Alaska if he is with me. The thought of traveling to new places is exciting and fun and at the same time a bit scary. I'll keep taking baby steps to increase the span of my travels. Hopefully by the summer, I'll be ready to venture out farther or will have convinced my Daddy to go on a trip with me and the kids.

| I think that should be a nice trip. I have watched TV specials on the Biltmore House and Memphis Elvis style so I know that it will be worth wild trip. I haven't been to either of those locations though.

If you have never been to the Grand Canyon and more generally Northern Arizona you should seriously consider it. It's truly beautiful country. Too bad it is so far from Jax. Even the desert is pretty to me even though at first glance it seems pretty bleak.

Chuckc,
Aaron and I went to the Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam, and Las Vegas last year and we want to go back to take the kids to see the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. We also want to drive up Route 66. You are right, the desert is beautiful. I was in awe the first time I saw the sun rise while in the desert. I just love seeing how different America's landscape can be from place to place.

With the huge increases in gas we are not planning on anymore long trips such as previous Florida to Cape cod. Made two othem with a popup and now with a Hybrid trailer it just gets too expensive with the drop in gas mileage. We will continue to go to the Lake Hartwelll area of the Ga/Sc border for state parks and also go into southern Florida like Lake manatee but lonnnng trips are out. Can you imagine what a long west coast trip would cost from Florida now?
