Some of you have expressed an interest in Salt Springs Recreation Area. I have 2 trips planned if anyone is interested in joining in. If you like swimming in cold water on a hot day this is the place for you. The fishing in the area is also good and there are many other recreational activities. Memorial Day is typically crowded there, but the time in July after the 4th is a great way to spend hot lazy days exploring the local springs. I have added both to the calender

87 miles from my house on the Northside. It is 20 miles south of Palatka on Fla 19

We've never been to Salt Springs. How are the sites?

I was looking at Reserve America for Salt Springs over Memorial Weekend, and I don't see any sites available for on-line reservations; however, they are showing numerous sites available as walk up.  Is there a way to contact Salt Springs directly and reserve a site?

Did anyone notice the disclaimer below which is on reserveamerica when you try to book a site at Salt Springs:

Alerts and Important Information
The Springs swimming and day use areas are projected to close for renovation/construction begnining mid-April and lasting for about 8 months (or until late October). The camping areas will remain open

Just an FYI........I was looking at going in June sometime but will wait now if the springs area is closed.

This is creating a major dilemma for me. I will have to rethink Memorial Day and July 6--12. I can't go without swimming. This is a total shocker.
