We wanted to go to Niagra in June, but can't find anyone to go with. If we don't go Niagra Falles, we are going on a short 2-3 week trip like, Jax-Memphis (Elvis Home),Next Mamouth Cave Kentucky, (see the cave), Lexington, Ky (Visit the Horse Prak), Ashville ( Biiltmore House), maybe Willamsburg or Home Depending on time.
Why don't youall join us?

We ended up in Niagara in the summer of 06.  Took our time about 5 days through the blue ridge and the Civil War battlefields of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.  We stated at the KOA in Lewiston north of the falls.  We had heard some horror stories of campgrounds in the area.  We didn't have our passports so we did not try the Canadian side.  The campground was quiet and clean although somewhat small.  They offered a tour $65.00 each that picked us up at the KOA, then to Cave of the Winds, Whirlpool, Maid of the Mist, and lunch.  Someone doing the driving around was worth $65. to me.  Be sure to buy your fuel on the Indian Reservation, NO TAX..

This past summer I read where the KOA office at Lewiston had burned down but the campground was still open.

If you go, be sure to go on up to Fort Niagara.  A very interesting and complete fort from the Revolutionary War and the French and Indian War.

As you travel through Virginia, be sure to take in Harpers Ferry and Antietam.  (We had stayed in Winchester at Candy Hill and used it as a base camp for our tours of northern Virginia.)   John Brown was jailed at Harpers Ferry after a failed attempt to take over the armory.  This town changed hands 5 times in one day during the civil war.

Operated by the National Park Service, they have a shuttle to the historic downtown (parking hard to find).  The rangers are dressed in period garb and operate in the past.  We saw a demonstration by a ranger making the weapons of the time.  A KOA is located nearby but we didn't stay there.  Many of the original buildings remain and are operated by the national park service.

I found this info on another forum I frequent about camping in the Niagra area.

"Four Mile Creek State Campground is my recomendation for the US Side...Its on Lake Ontario, next to Fort Niagara and a easy 10/15 min run to the Falls..."

I have checked into several campgrounds but none of the State parks and some of the private ones too don't have sewer or electric hook ups....We could just use the generator here and there but since we are bringing guests with us (brother,sister-in law and nephew that will be 5 of us in the MH and I would really like the sewer LOL or we will denfinitly have to dump everyother day probably. We actually looked at that KOA too. We have to make a decision one way or another soon.
