State Parks have so much to offer and we try to use them whenever we can. This Memorial Day, I had made reservations at Gamble Rogers State Park on Flagler Beach.
We, while once very active, if you know what I mean, spent every weekend winter and summer at Silver Glen Springs on our boat. In 1997 we sold the boat due to Donna's brain surgery in which she lost much of her balance. We began go-kart racing with our son and we learned a valuable lesson. About $30,000 later, Money buys speed, How Fast do You want to go? Then in the summer of 2005, he went off to college and the empty nest syndrome took over. I bought the camper we have today.
We have taken a more laid back attitude now and spend time to really enjoy each other. (In other words, we are getting old.) We really like Gamble Rodgers but decided Memorial Day was not the time to be there. I canceled those reservations and made new ones at Stephen Foster Culture Center State Park in White Springs. Now this park is really laid back but it has one of the nicer Eastern Florida State Campgrounds.
We now enjoy a small restaurant in Live Oak and frequently visit the Walmart there. Boy, have we changed! We still have a before dinner drink but 8pm is our curfew.
If you don't like the action and need a comfortable place to stay, try Stephen Foster Culture Center. Who knows, it may ad a day or two to your life.

SF is a great camping park and I know what you mean about a slower paced lifestyle(man, am I there). I go over there in the winter sometime, very much the "Old Florida" I grew up with. Would like to know the eatery you frequent there also. I have a few pics of the park and area in my pics link

| We go over to Live Oak to the Dixie Grill on US 90 about a block east of 129. Pretty good food and Drop Dead Deserts. We eat a bite then fill up with fuel a Walmart. Good little drive over and back through the fields and pastures. As you know, there is nothing much in White Springs...But the Park is Great.. Attachment: SFCSP.jpg (Downloaded 23 times)
