I've read a couple reviews on Stone Mountain.  The major concern was that there are a number of sites that are unlevel.  The locals tend to know those sites and book them up.

For those of you with the big rigs you might want to inquire the site numbers to the level sites.

Taken of of http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Georgia/Stone_Mountain.html#CGID933

"Nice park, great location with plenty to do in the park. As others have stated be ready to use extreme measures to level your rig. Loop F is a pretty safe bet for beginners and families with small children. We took a drive around the other loops and would have been concerned for my children's (Ages 10,7,2)safety on some of the sites on the M or N loops. I have never seen big rigs with both back wheels 6 inches off the ground. Granted some of these sites had better views of the lake, but looked to be for the more seasoned folks. Overall, we had a great time and we will return in the future. We camped here in a Motorhome. "

Not sure about the Black Mountain trip, but I think we can definitely do a long weekend at Stone Mountain.

I've wanted to go to Stone Mountain also. Spring Break would be a nice time to go. I have to check my schedule closer to the time.

Hi Phil, Danny and I are fine with those dates for Stone Mt and Gadsden.  Let us know when you make your reservations, and we'll make ours too. Nacalulla Falls doesnt take reservations, just so you know. and the other campground on the other side of the river wont allow pop ups. (snobs!)

Maybe while we're in Gadsden, we can go check out Horse Pens 40, that looks kinda cool. its a nice day trip. we went there, but didnt have time to check it all out.

Hi Phil, thats fine...  Danny doesnt need a lot of notice at work to get time off, so let us know when  you find out.

Can residents of Gadsden book sites at the Falls?

Hi,

We are going the weekend of October 19th.  It is the same weekend as the Scottish Highland Games.  We hope to see some cool color changes and some great music.

We will let everyone know how it goes.  I will look and see what site we are in.

Stone Mountain is a really nice place to camp.  We tried camping there last year.  We parked at a hilly site and my wife slipped on some pine straw and broke her leg in two places the second day we were there.  Needless to say we were on our way back to Jax the following day for surgery.  I think the fall is the best time to go, the fall colors are awesome.  They have a cool light show at night where they actually make the horsemen seem to move.  here is a pic.
