We are leaving on the 23rd of this month. I am so glad it is May so I can now say "we are going this month". We rode our bikes at Ft. Clinch several times last summer and that is really the reason we bought TT.
Should we be comcerned about the bugs by Memorial Day? What do you folks use to keep the bugs away?

| I wouldn't worry about the buggies too much on the ocean side. A camp fire always helps. We bring along those citronella candles and bug spray.

| We will be staying at the river side. We are not much for the sand.

Hi, I am new to the group (joined today). We are leaving for Ft. Clinch on the 23rd as well and driving from Miami. This will be our longest trip with our new-to-us pop up. We purchased it in December and have been to Ft. Wilderness and Johnathan Dickenson with it. We will be travelling with our two dogs.
We are staying at Ft. Clinch for 4 nights on the river side and then driving down to Anastasia for 5 nights - very excited!
Any pointers out there?
Thanks for letting me join your group!

| "Beware of RACCOONS" on the river side. They got into all my coolers that I left under the awning overnight. Awoke the next morning to dirty ice and no fish bait. Lucky for me they didn't like BUD LIGHT.

Thank you all for your help! Luckily, Sawblade, we don't like to fish but do like Bud Lite.
One more question. How far is it from the river camping area to the beach? Within walking distance? Can't seem to figure that one out.
Thanks again.

| That's a pretty good walk. At minimum I would recommend a bicycle, personally I would drive, but then I am as lazy as all get out.

WOW, what a blast we had at Ft. Clinch. We are new to this but Ft. Clinch is at the top of our list of favorite parks.. Cindy and I got to meet some really neat folks. We met Eddie and Lorraine and Cindy fell in love with the noodles. You guys have to let us know when you will be back up this way next time so we can get together for some campin'.
Ya'll talk like the raccoons are a bad thing. Cindy totally freaked out getting to see them. She got to see all kinds of critters, even a deer over close to the beach campground. One raccoon just LOVED the marshmellows. I told her not to but she never listens to me.

Steve shuuuuu! Don't talk so loud. Others will hear you and take over our favorite campgrounds. It is so hard to get a reservation now...
Glad you guys enjoyed Ft Clinch and had a safe weekend. Fort Clinch is Donna's favorite park.
