We have been trying to find a temporary solution for our rabbits that are regularly attacked by mosquitoes in the evening and hours.  I purchased the Off Clip-on Mosquito Protection and I am amazed at how well this thing works.  Prior to using this product there would be hundreds of mosquitoes flying all around the cages.  Now there are only a few.  The box states that they are good for up to 15 feet from the unit and each refill lasts 12 hours.

I will be getting another of these to place under the awning of the camper.

I just got one of these and will give it a try this weekend. ThermaCELL Portable Olive Mosquito Repellent Appliance. According to several Forums it is the best thing on the market for biting flies and mosquitoes. We'll see.

I checked out the Thermacell but the refills were over 6.00 and I would need one per day until the new rabbit hutch is complete.

I use a fogger in the back yard. It keeps the skeeters away for several hours, but I don't know if it would be safe for your rabbits. Lowes sells them. Made by Black Flag.

I bought one of those Mosquito Magnets off of Craigslist last week. I had to order a power cord and a new net for it, but still less than $100 for everything. Now that I have had it up and running, I have noticed that I have caught several mosquitoes and a bunch of gnats. From what I have read, it takes about 3-4 days to really start seeing the bugs in the net and about 3 weeks to notice the decline of the skeeters in the yard. Will see!

I will be interested in hearing your long term results with the magnet. I have been on the fence about getting one myself. I have read that they will indeed kill allot of mosquitoes but that they also attract allot of them to your yard on the way to it.

I read the same thing about bug zappers but I just love listening to them get the juice.

I will keep you posted. I picked this one up for $50 with the LP bottle. I have read good and bad reviews about these things. Hopefully it will work for us. I have it about 75' away from the pool, and when I checked on it this afternoon, the skeeters where all around it.

We had mosquitos in Fairbanks,AK worse than I'd ever seen, and the Thermacell kept them off of us. They don't work in much of a breeze, though.
Keep us posted on the Clip On. I've seen them advertized on TV. OFF! products usually work.

Well I am still not sure that it works. This weekend we used the ThermaCELL Portable Olive Mosquito Repellent but also added in a Centanela (sp) Candle and together got no bites even with all the wet weather. I only ran it from about 5PM to 9 PM and went through the 3 packs of stuff and one tube of gas for the 4 nights. So about 16 hours total. So average cost about .38 cents an hour. How is the Clip-On one doing and the average cost? Also have you found you can walk around with it or like the ThermaCell have to stay in one place that is within 7 feet of the thing?

Dee you can walk around with it but the protection only works when you stop and stay for awhile per the directions on the box. I have not tried it walking around myself. So far it is working out pretty good for us. I am not sure why but the refills are lasting allot longer than 12 hours. I have been getting two to three nights per refill. I have been turning it on every night at dusk and go in to turn off and recharge the batteries in the morning.

This morning I worked in my mosquito-infested back yard wearing shorts and a tank shirt(probably NOT a mental picture anyone wants)with a clip-on clipped to my pocket. In an hour I got one bite. I'll have to say they work. There was no breeze at all, and that might have helped. I finished Dale's kayak trailer, so there will be peace and harmony at my house!
Y'all have a good weekend- We're goin' fishin'

Ever try a sheet of Bounce to keep the Skeeters away? Someone emailed this to me. I think I'll try it.

The US Postal
service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce
in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away. Use them all the
time when playing baseball and soccer. I use it when I am working outside.
It really works. The insects just veer around you. All this time you've
just been putting Bounce in the dryer! 1. It will chase ants away when you
lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice. 2. Spread sheets around
foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps
mice from entering your vehicle. 3. It takes the odor out of books and
photo albums that don't get opened too often. 4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie
a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito
season. 5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer)
screen. 6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe
your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from
resettling. 7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of
Bounce. 8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of
Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet. 9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum
cleaner. 10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a
sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew. 11. Prevent musty suitcases.
Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the
front seat. 13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a
pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static
agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan. 14..
Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of
the wastebasket. 15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of
Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs. 16. Elimin ate static
electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce
to prevent dust from resettling. 17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand
papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce
at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper. 19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers.
Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight. 20. Golfers
put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away. 21. Put a
Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing
them. It will keep them smelling fresh. 22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down
your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.
