I seen one of these at a campground and I thought that this would be a good idea to hang our family sign on. When you first look at it you would think that you could make one for about $40, but believe it or not I have built a few of these for friends and family members and the cheapest one still cost me $65 and the one in the picture was around $85. The main cost is the light on top. I bought the light kit at Home Depot and it's all plastic, so I don't have to worry about breaking it. I also install a Blue 15 watt light bulb in the light. This gives a soft glow at night and doesn't bother your neighbours.
If you would like to make your own, I created instructions when I made this one and posted on my family website. If you click on the link below it will open a PDF file that you can print out.

I will be working on your flag in the morning. I will have to get it done before the rally now that you have that great post to hang it from.

Awwwhttp://www......that is so nice of you Greg. THANK YOU!!
I know you must be so busy with the Rally prep. I really appreciate you doing the flags. I'll definately be putting my lamp post out and hanging my family and club flags on it whenever we go camping.
One thing, how long will the icebreaker last Friday night? We might not be there until 6pm or so. Hopefully there won't be any sneak attacks by low branches etc...
THANKS AGAIN and we look forward to meeting you and everyone in the club.

Thats awesome..I was thinking of using a solar or battery operated light...just in case you want to put it farther away from the camper and don't want to bother with an extension cord. Do you think that would work?

I don't see why not.
The extension cord that I use is a 25 footer. So far I haven't had to add another cord. I usually try to run it off the power plug at the camping spot, but a couple of times I have ran it off my camper plug that I plug my awning lights in and this will put it about 20' from the camper. I have a couple of solar lights that I have used a few times and I notice that the lights don't last very long (maybe a few hours) and with the sun going down around 6:30 It might not stay on that long.....Just a thought!

Well, finished the lamp post and it looks great. I have my new signs to hang, thanks to Greg. I'll display it proudly April 3rd at Hanna Park.
