I've been looking for a new charcoal smoker for the past few weeks (mine rusted out) and a couple of guys I work with swear by this one. (Smoker) Home Depot has them on sale for $99 so I bought one today. I wanted one that I could break down and take on camping trips and this one fit the requirements plus it is 100% stainless steel. It can smoke a juicy 20 pound turkey in 2 hours and 15 minutes, 6 racks of meat falling off the bone ribs in 1 hour 15 minutes, etc.

| Which HD did you pick it up at? It sounds like a worthwhile purchase to me.

| I got an LP powered slow smoker back at Christmas and I can turn out some great Q on that thing. Surprisingly light for a steel cabinet. I have taken it with me several times and enjoyed it. Have fun with the new cooker.

I'm totally amazed you can smoke a 20 lb turkey in 2 or 3 hours. Do charcoal smokers cook faster than propane or electric smokers?

| It cooks/smokes by convection. The charcoal is on the outside of the smoker instead of underneath it plus there is a small amount of charcoal placed on the lid. It's closed off at the bottom and has a removable drip tray on the inside. There are a couple of small holes down by the charcoal that lets the smoke in. There's a sliding trap door under the charcoal to dump the charcoal when done. Attachment: Orion Smoker.JPG (Downloaded 48 times)

Do you use wood chips to add flavor for the smoke or just let the charcoal do it's thing?

You can add wood chips inside the smoker between the drip pan and outer wall.
Here's a link to the manual:
